Microneedling uses a sterile tip of very fine needles to make thousands of controlled micro-channels in the skin. The injuries are tiny and shallow, but they are enough to switch the skin into repair mode, so it rebuilds with fresh collagen over the following weeks. We numb the skin first; most people describe the feeling as light sandpaper, not pain.
It is the treatment we reach for on acne scarring, enlarged pores, and fine lines, and results build across a series of sessions spaced about a month apart. Plan on looking sunburned for a day or two afterward. Changes show up gradually as collagen rebuilds, which is why the photos we take at the start matter more than the mirror on day three.
